I Cormac nascono nel 1998 per proporre le sonorità tradizionali della musica irlandese; la formazione musicale dei componenti è mista: alcuni musicisti sono diplomati al conservatorio, altri hanno esperienze legate alla musica popolare.
Il gruppo ha studiato sia i gruppi storici irlandesi (Planxty, Chieftains, De Dannan) che quelli più recenti (Altan, Dervish) nonché le produzioni più interessanti di letteratura, cinema e teatro, al fine di avere una visione completa della cultura folk irlandese.
I Cormac portano sul palco canzoni d'amore e di guerra, gighe, reel il tutto con una particolare attenzione agli arrangiamenti e alla ricerca dei brani, come si può evincere dall’ascolto del cd “Cormac” pubblicato agli inizi del 2003 da Ethnoworld Srl.
Cormac were born in 1998 to propose the traditional sound of irish music: the musical formation of the band members is mixed: some musicians have followed classical studies, others rely mainly on folk music experiences.
The band has studied both the historical irish groups (Planxty, Chieftains, De Dannan) and the recent ones (Altan, Dervish) and even the most interesting productions in literature, cinema and theatre, in order to hace a complete vision of the irish folk culture.
Cormac bring on stage love songs and war songs, jigs, reels all with a special attention for arrangements and research, as you can understand while hearing the cd “Cormac” released by Ethnoworld at the beginning of 2003.
