Nell'autunno del 1999 amici musicanti si chiamarono a raccolta...
Amici da anni, musicanti per strade diverse, li univa l'amore per le antiche melodie e l'esigenza di dare vita ad una esperienza che fosse in primo luogo una zona franca per irrequiete e scomposte creatività. Nasceva così il Charmin'Elf, l'elfo che incanta.
Il nostro punto di partenza fu la Musica Popolare ed in particolare quella che viene definita Celtica (il folk irlandese, scozzese, bretone, ecc.). Non era la scelta di un ‘genere musicale’ ma il naturale avvicinamento ad una tradizione musicale intrisa di quella ‘modalità’ a noi particolarmente cara e stimolante per la  ricerca di un suono perduto, giacente nei recessi della nostra anima; risonanza che non si lascia descrivere a parole e la cui origine non sappiamo collocare precisamente nel tempo e nello spazio.
A tutto ciò si affianca il richiamo di musica e strumenti provenienti da altre tradizioni (compresa la nostra pugliese) e su tutto la necessità creativa, che attingendo alle diverse esperienze e personalità che convivono nel gruppo, ci porta da subito alla composizione di musica e testi originali e ad una interpretazione affatto personale della musica tradizionale.

On Fall 1999 some musicians and friends decided to gather...
They had been friends for years but as musicians they had walked different paths till that moment. What joined them was the same love for the ancient melodies and also the need to give birth to an experience that had to be, in first place, a "free zone" for their restless creativity.
Our starting point was the so called Celtic music (Irish, Scottish, Breton folk music, etc.). It was not the choice of a "genre" of music, but the natural approaching to a tradition steeped in that "modes" particularly dear to us, as they magically stimolate the search of a lost sound, dwelling in the recesses of our souls; a resonance that can't be described by words and whose origin can't be set in time and space.
Besides Celtic music, we also hear "the call" of the music and instruments coming from other traditions - including ours from Puglia, of course. But what prevails over everything (as mentioned before) is the creative necessity which, drawing upon the different experiences and personalities living together in the group, leads us soon to the composition of original music and lyrics, as well as a completely personal interpretation of the traditional music.
