Il gruppo prende il nome dalla "Giobia", termine brianzolo che indica la strega o il giovedì, giorno in cui le streghe si incontrano per le loro danze: è in questa chiave magica e fiabesca che si delinea il loro stile, un melting pot di psichedelia, folk, dance, rock, elettronica e pop.

Nella musica dei Giobia si trovano sia strumenti etnici (sitar, bouzouki, oud, darbuka, didjeridoo...) che moderni (chapman grand stick, vocoders, teremin...) amalgamati in forma evoluta e popolare al tempo stesso.

Dopo numerose esibizioni di valore (Arezzo Wave, Viva/Rete A, Tele +, Radio Popolare...) i Giobia firmano per la casa discografica londinese Silent Revolution che ha pubblicato il cd "Beyond the stars", anticipato dal singolo "Caught in analogic memories", importati in Italia da Ethnoworld.

"Beyond the stars" è stato masterizzato da Jason Howes, sound engineer dei Faithless, negli studi Premises di Londra (Blur, Badly Drown

Boy, David Gray, Kula Shaker...) e presentato dal vivo al "Bull & Gate" il 16 gennaio 2005.
Giobia is a band born in Milan (Italy) ten years ago and the word "giobia" means "Witch" in a local dialect, this explaining the melting pot of psichedelia, folk, dance, electronics, rock and pop styles.
Their music hosts ethnic instruments such like sitar, bouzouki, oud, darbuka, didjeridoo... as well as modern instruments like chapman grand stick, vocoders, teremin... all mixed up together.
After many important live shows in Italy, Giobia have signed for the London based record label Silent
Revolution Ltd, that has launched the first official EP "Caught in analogic memories " in different european countries (International Records is the UK distributor, Neal Yard's Rough Trade shop sells the cds in London) and has then released the full album "Beyond the stars".
"Beyond the stars" has been mastered in London Premises Studios (Blur, Badly Drown Boy, David Gray, Kula Shaker...) by Faithless' sound engineer Jason Howes and has been showcased live in London at "Bull & Gate" the 16th of january 2005.
